Mindy

• Meet Mindy, a 3 to 4 year-old a lovely Retriever cross lady.
• She has had a rough year, but two kind souls saw her potential and knew she deserved a do-over at a great life!
• Mindy was left to fend for herself, being befriended by a 12-year-old girl who slowly gained her trust to make sure she was kept safe until Mindy’s real life guardian angels took her under their wing.
• 6 months ago Mindy was diagnosed with heartworm disease and has finally completed her treatment; her veterinarian called her a superstar patient, giving her the clear to find her forever family.
• Mindy has learned through some adverse experiences in her past that humans need to prove they are trust-worthy (smart dog!) but once she considers you as part of her pack she is loyal through and through! She is super affectionate with her people and aims to please.
• Mindy does have a voice, barking to let you know if there is company coming or possible stranger-danger; and listens when called to come once her security services have been fulfilled.
• Mindy’s foster family taught her that other dogs and cats are A-OK, she takes it slow to get to know them, but once she figures out they mean well she loves to play!
• Mindy has personally requested that her new people please take her on car rides whenever they can, she will jump into her crate and hangs out quietly enjoying the trip.
• Mindy loves walks, both on and off leash, with good recall as long as there aren’t any gophers to grab her attention. If there is a lake or puddle of water while out exploring she will definitely enjoy getting wet to cool off.
• When Mindy’s foster people aren’t home, they keep her safe in a kennel, which she is fine with as long as a food treat is involved! When home with her people she can be trusted to roam free in the house, choosing where she wants to fall asleep for the night. Mindy is house-trained, helping herself to the doggy door when it is time for a potty break.
