Shira

Meet Shira,

Shira is a Labrador mix with a story that has not been easy. It seems very possible that she was never truly a house dog before. Maybe she lived on a farm where no one really interacted with her, or maybe she grew up outside without having a person of her own.

Shira came to us by chance, and after she arrived, we found out that she had heartworm. She also does not see well. And of course, we decided that she deserved a chance.

She is still a very shy girl, but her world has changed so much. For Shira, every small step is a big victory. She has learned new skills, met new people, discovered new routines, and slowly started to understand that hands can be kind and people can be safe.

Shira is good with dogs and cats. She usually ignores strangers, but with the people she knows, she now shows a quiet, almost invisible interest. And for her, that is incredible progress. She no longer panics from touch. She can take treats from a hand. She walks on leash. She does well in a home kennel, and she rides beautifully in the car.

Shira is not the dog who will run into your arms right away. She is the dog who will quietly learn to trust you, little by little. And when a dog like Shira finally chooses to believe in you, it means everything.

She needs a patient, kind home that understands shy dogs and sees the beauty in slow progress. Shira deserves a life where she is safe, loved, and never forgotten again.
